yes that is true,
I believe only nakamura and caruana can seriously challenge him.
from what the have shown in zurich's challenge. since you are asking for a young player caruana
the last time nakamura beat carlsen....wait, i don't think he has! Personally, i think that Nakamura, although a really good player, won't ever reach that high. I would say Caruana has a good future, And i think that Levon Aronian is the biggest threat now to the World title.
He was the only one who completely outplayed carlsen at regular time control till some point. I really believe that he is his biggest threat at the moment
Anyone who says Nakamura is the biggest threat to carlsen needs to look at his record against him..

0 wins, 8 losses, 15 draws for a grand total of...... drum roll please....wait for it...... 32.6%. Ouch. I know he almost won the last game but they've played 23 times. Twenty three. That's a two & a three. No wins for Naka. Zilch. Zip, etc. & even in blitz they've played a 40 game match. Guess who won that? Yep, by a comfortable margin in that too. So even in blitz & rapid he's better. Is anyone detecting a pattern here?
I don't follow the big chess tournaments, but my prediction is Magnus will be decrowned within 3 years. Computers have made it easier for the best of the best to get amazingly good at extremely young ages. I expect Magnus 2.0 is right around the corner.
Unless Levon Aronian does it....Did you see Magnus play Boris Gelfand? It was a boring equel position at move 15, and then magnus made things exciting and eventually won the game. Against Boris Gelfand!!! that is crazy.
