anyway my title is 100% MM (master moron) (means a master at being a moron)
now my profile: MM feathery217
Several countries awarded and still award national master titles M or NM.
Imperial Russia and later the Soviet Union awarded a national grandmaster title GM or NGM.
Then FIDE introduced the international master and grandmaster titles IM and IGM.
Then the Soviet Union/Russia ceased to award its national grandmaster titles and IGM was shortened to just GM as the I was no longer necessary to make the distinction.

Chess,com gave them the title, it’s not one you can win for any special reason. The minimum national elo for National Master (lowest rating for a title besides women titles) is 2200 USCF, same in canada but you need 2300 performance rating and some other requirements I think, and a few other countries have the title
