lmfao
Is there any chance that a 1300 rated player can beat a 1400 rated player?
The 1400 is expected to score 64% over the course of many games. If they score better, their rating is adjusted up. If they score worse, it's adjusted down. This is the rating system in a nutshell.
White: Rating difference between two players
Blue: expected score as a percent for Higher rated player
Green: expected score as a percent for Lower rated player

none of the players are robots that plays solid at their level, as all humans they also go up and down.
I think in online chess there is almost no difference between 1300 and 1400... If the 1400 has a bad day his rating may fall down to 1300 for some time. I think in chess 100 rating points is not a great difference.
I don't think a 1300 could possibly beat a 1400. However, a 2700 likely can't beat a 1300 either, so we have a bit of a dilemma now.

Everybody says the higher rated player is so much stronger etc etc. Because they associate with him and want to protect their own ego by saying no way they can/should lose to 100 or 200 hundreds points lower rated player.
Realistically speaking , the truth is that they fear playing them, because of fear of lost.
800-1600 ~ is type of rating, where players are "capable" of losing/hanging pieces for free. (Even at higher level) Not only that, they lack technique and even when they are material up, often they are not capable to win.
So the thing is 1300 rated player can score a lot of wins against not 1400 but 1600 rated player.
The higher are the ratings, the less likely is the higher rated player to lose against lower rated.
If you are not conviced enough, think about 600 rated and 900 rated players. do you really think 900 have enough to not lose a game against 600 if we assume both players know how to checkmate with queen/rook vs king.

At both the 1300 and 1400 levels, mistakes and blunders happen. I've been lucky enough to beat players several hundred points above me and I've lost to players well below me. I think that the percentage table above is about right.
Also, did you ever go to play Rxa8 and your finger slips off the mouse a little early and so you actually played Ra7 by accident? Then your opponent plays Rxa7 and you resign. It happens. LOL.

I laughed.
Amazing people are taking this thread seriously.
then tell us the answer wise guy
Are 100 points a lot in terms of chess knowledge?
how often should the 1300 lose to the 1400? I don't understand why we have an inaccurate rating system if the the 1300 could beat a 1400.
