Lotto winners are lucky....chess winners, well, that's just it and nothing else.

If your opponent blunders or misses a win, then yes, you're lucky

You wanna talk about luck? Here I blundered into a King/Queen knight fork but my opponent missed it. Yes! I feel supremely lucky!

Many people mistake a stupid opponent for "luck". The luck was in getting paired with a ninny.

There is no such thing as luck, just a word that makes you feel good, in fact every thing you gain or lose, is based on your life time-decisions.

Luck is an illusion created by timing and variance.  There is variance in everything in the universe.

Just my luck to stumble across this after 3 years . . .  tongue.png

A new use of the word "luck" I hadn't thought of.

I  made a move and then groaned. How could I be so stupid?! Then I see a way out and its brilliant. My blunder turned out to be a genius move! That's luck!

There is luck in about everything--chess is no exception.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

There are ways to play rock paper scissors to give you an advantage,

caimzri1h

There definitely is. Sometimes your opponent's pieces just end up in the right positions, without them foreseeing it. There's nothing you can do about it, besides accepting the bad luck and moving on.

I like it!

The phrase allegedly was uttered by Seneca, the Roman.

I narrow my candidate moves down to two and then flip a coin

LeeEuler

I certainly believe so, though minimal compared to other pursuits

Nimzowitschbrother

Well to be very honest luck will only play a part if the moves are one well planned and two well executed not only that there is room for improvement

GhostNight

Luck in chess when your opponent maybe even stronger then you makes a blunder, as we know how often that happens fork.png So their can be luck in chess fork.png happy.png
