Is this a good defense?    e4....d5 (scandinavian)....exd5......NF6.....d4.....c6 (sacrificing a pawn).....dxc6

followed of course by Nxc6.

 

I play it often and even though it gambits a pawn, it actually gets players out of their comfort zone both on the board and psychologically. 

 

What do you think of the defense?

It's definitely playable but I just don't like giving up a pawn playing black. I usually do well against it being able to hang on to the extra pawn.

It is not terrible, but it is a rather weak gambit that doesn't give black enough compensation or practical ways to use the development advantage.
