Is this really happens here?

Hello to all Chess Player,

I just want to ask regarding my concern if you also experience this kind of problem. I hope im in the right thread to post this concern.

When i play with someone else online, my time gets deducted not only just 1 seconds but 5 or more, while my opponent, his/her time was added. Its seems that my time was transfered to my opponent, i dont know if that really happens here. Im just new to this site, and dont much click on this, im not computer savvy, i only ask help to my daughter. I just want to play chess, as its the only thing i do everyday, but i feel so unfair. I get lost because of that. It does not happen once or twice but how many times already. Pls let me know what to do, what can you say regarding to this. Any reply will much be appreciated. Thanks
