and you should be able to bench press at least half your weight....
I think being half crazy probably helps. Look at Morphy and Fischer.
You need to basically to be the best live and breath, kasparov the former world champ would take 3 months off before a world championship match, he would spend that time studying, calulating, figuring out exactly how to play his opposition. Part of chess is preparation and endurance. Many players can fall under time trouble or fall apart after a game has gone on for two or more hours.

I think two key traits are intuition and confidence. If you have these two things you can go a long way in chess.
