- put a pawn in the center;
- develop your pieces;
- castle asap (under 1000).
Next is:
1. Don’t loose pieces and pawns;
2. Take free pieces and pawns.
Last:
Learn the basic mating patterns.
You should watch my chess or any really good player(it's the opposite of what they preach minus people like hakiru or dania)@william_Tylar but your not really doing "the basics" besides the basics lie to you lol
You actually have to play unconventionally sometimes ex damage pawn structure for free peice or open up king to get a winning position I recommend taking the advice but be careful about it you can't do it 100 percent of the time I recommend learning endgames if you don't know how to convert correctly everything else is useless Don't be afraid to take risks if you don't take risks you won't learn
You are young you have a lot of other things making demands on your time and as others have suggested you cannot be good at everything you try. But I would suggest you slow things down by trying the odd daily game or even 3 day give yourself time to think through moves and your opponents . You could try writing down the first move you see then go away for a time come back to the game do you see anything differently even for your opponent , try flipping the board to see it from your opponents point of view . You appear not to analyse all your games and yet you want to improve and lessons and puzzles can reinforce the basics too so try one a day for a time. Please understand I am no expert but what you are currently doing is not working so change it.
I’ve played chess for approximately 3 years, i know the basics:
•Take the center
•avoid putting knights on the edge of the board
•and i know a good from a bad bishop
I’ve read books watched YouTube videos and played several puzzles to try to improve but nothing is working, Help me if you can, thank you
Update: Thanks for all the advice guys
