I've recently become interested in the history of junior chess in the UK and the world. Its easy to find out when the junior world championships etc started up, but when were the first school clubs? When did kids clubs start up? When did it become a game that children took to? As I understand it in the early 20th it was more a game for adults and the very gifted juniors. When did this trend change? Any ideas?
