Know what really irks me?

Hello Vance , someone reopened my forum on being polite in chess.com , you can guess what happened , straight away he got ridiculed by some morons , the thing is Vance after a couple of years playing this site , i've nearly become immune to them , but not quite yet , maybe a couple more years.

Right around this time of year, in 1914, bitter enemies, who were killing each other, stopped and took a break for peace. They drank together, and even played a friendly soccer game in the snow. That is how strong their desire for peace was. They literally risked their lives in trusting the other side not to fire. Now here, at this time of year, with peace and good will to all, we see quite the opposite. You call them morons, but they are not morons; they are much worse. They may be quite intelligent, in fact, but what distinguishes them from us is that they like to create hostilities, and will twist your words around in any way that permits them to ridicule you. I have no doubt that this posting of mine will itself be ridiculed, but all I can do is put it out there. Obviously, I have no control over how the miscreants respond to it. Some world we live in.

True, the apocalyptic struggle to survive in the hellish trenches of Europe, WWI can be aptly compared to the struggle for politeness in the wastelands of live chess.
Let's talk about why people ignoring you really irks you....Why do you even give a damn? Interesting question....

Sure, awhile back I suffered an anoxic brain injury as a result of a post surgical complication. I've been playing chess as part of my rehab. I've become far weaker and sometimes blunder horribly or play horribly, that being said I still try to be courteous. Due to this its quite a pain in the butt when I play far below my potential (quite frustrating) and someone starts talking about how weak I am or not taking the time to be kind back.

Just consider the source when dealing with such people. I praise you for doing your best! Chess is many things to people. For some it is a tremenous ego trip, and then there are those such as you that play for therapy. It takes time to sort out which people are worth playing chess with and enjoy them and forget the rest of them.

Rude people are everywhere, it just seems more aparent when reading these threads. It boasts their egos or some such thing.
The only thing that irks me on live chess is my own level of play.
Concentrate on the things you can improve rather than whining.

You know, someone could make a better argument than yours, that if there's something you don't like on forums...why take the time to post about it? Why not take the time that you're using to post to improve your own level of play which you apparently are irked by. I'm not "whining" about any particular incidence, just the fact that there seems to be a level of discourtesy on chess.com. Also I see that your rating is a fair bit lower than mine, if you want I could take some time and give you some pointers. I mean that in all seriousness and am not trying to be condescending.

Divisiveness creates hostilities.

I get somewhat irked when the opponent wins on time in blitz/bullet with a horrible position on the board and immediately congratulates himself with "GG" and offers a rematch. But I haven't started a thread to complain about it.
I get somewhat irked when the opponent wins on time in blitz/bullet with a horrible position on the board and immediately First off, you did just take the time to complain about it in your post. Secondly, time is part of blitz or bullet. If you dislike time pressure or time constraints, find something more suited to your liking. The point of saying good game isn't self serving or ego driven in the least (at least it shouldn't be). Its saying that your opponent played well and you wish you congratulatehim for it. Maybe in the instances where you get flagged and your opponent says gg you should take that as him praising your outplaying him. It might allow you you walk away from the game less irked. congratulates himself with "GG" and offers a rematch. But I haven't started a thread to complain about it.

Don't worry about me if I truly get irked by something I can just walk away. There is a difference between ignorance live chat morons and having a disagreement on the forums.
As to your offer, any advice you are willing to give would be gratefully accepted. Even though I am aware of my major problems (lack of mental toughness, poor tactical ability, non existent strategic awareness, poor openings and awful endgames).
BTW, I haven't tried to be harsh in this thread, I've merely given practical advice, albeit cynical practical advice.
I truly appreciate the cynicism, it always leads to enlightened discussions...oh wait. Joking of course. As for the poor tactical ability, there's a site called chess tempo that offers alot of tactical problems, might be of some help.

"Irked" is a word one doesn't hear much nowadays....In some ways it reminds me of the term "cat's pajamas". I'm also reminded of the expression used by Teddy Roosevelt: "Bulley bulley"... Just thinking outloud here sorry if I digressed....t/y.

I get amused when I beat someone, refuse their rematch and am accused of cowardice.
Bullet especially rarely deserves any sort of comment after the game. It's not like you just engaged someone in a long hard struggle and either won or got outplayed.
I take it very unseriously and just as kind of an intuition builder and pattern vision drill. I lose about half the games on time.
Sorry everyone, but this is a traditional rant,
When you play a series of games with someone and either lose or win and say good game and just get ignored or even worse the person starts either gloating or talking s***. I mean it takes half a second and it adds alot of class etc. Come on people its online chess, its not serious at all!
