Let's all share our best chess tips so we can all improve together! Sharing is caring! I'll start with a few tips!

1. chomp on hanging pieces
2. put your pieces in the center to control more squares
3. understand your opponents ideas and threats

I will add more good tips I see within this thread so we can all refer to this list when trying to improve our gameplay! I will also be giving each suggested tip a rating based on how good they are!

Community tips:

1. Centralize the king early to attack your opponent (9/10) (UNDERRATED TIP)

2. When facing a strong opponent, focus on controlling the center with pawns and pieces, and look for opportunities to create pawn chains that restrict their mobility. (6.7/10)

3. Then, identify their weakest piece (often the one that's not contributing to the center or is undefended) and target it with a combination of pieces. This will force them to either sacrifice material or compromise their position. (6.5/10)

4. Meanwhile, keep a close eye on the king's safety always. (8.3/10) (UNDERRATED TIP)

5. ALWAYS take en passant (10/10) (BEST TIP)

6. Push your king forward in endgames or when losing (8/10) (UNDERRATED TIP)

7. Never let your opponent know your next move (9/10)

8. Try and set up xrays. Always look to take advantage of a pinned pawn. (6.9/10)

9. When attacking a piece ALWAYS calculate where they will move the piece or how they will defend it. Doing this lowered my blunder rate tremendously (7.6769420/10)

10. focus on improving piece activity—active pieces create threats, control key squares, and make your position naturally stronger. (8/10)

11. In a same color bishop endgame, try and put your pawns on the opposite color and lock your opponents pawns on the same color as the bishops (8.2/10)

There’s a reason it’s called the bongcloud attack.. because it’s definitely not a defense 😆
