No I don't. Not at all. I couldn't have made that any clearer in any of my posts. Learn to read.

P.S. I don't remember you from any other threads.

Actually... I no longer really give a damn.

One lesson to take home from your story - it is super important to have female role models. This does not just apply just chess.

I guess I would say that we should just have role models that work for us? I guess I just don't think I would rank the usefulness of a role model just based on that person's gender. People can find all sorts of inspiration from all sorts of ideas, and you may or may not share that person's gender; I don't think it matters so much. If I see someone doing something inspirational, I don't care if they look like me, it inspires me.

It is a good idea -for instance- , essental  really, to remember woman writers. God that sounds so unreconstructed bloke, circa: the1980s ...   which is when someone made  aware of that one.    (It wasn't enough to be a Rosella with -for birds at least- fantastic super powers , like computer skills and driving without having an opposible thumb. Pity it cost me the ability to fly....)

Why did you bump this for literally no reason?

so the big knight wants to know why a lady with ear buds is allowed to play OTB chess.

and he is sure that somewhere hidden away is a strong player that is able to peer at the board, whispers sweeting little engine lines and not be observed by any of the other tournament players esp the TD's.

huh.

I've never heard of that scam, is it common?

and... as far I know in many clubs,a small mp3 player with earbuds would be allowed.

all you OTB tourney players, feel free to correct me.

ok, quick googling...

by FIDE rules, looks like a judgement call...

"conduct of player  12.3"

"

12.3

  1. During play the players are forbidden to make use of any notes, sources of information or advice, or analyse on another chessboard
  2. Without the permission of the arbiter a player is forbidden to have a mobile phone or other electronic means of communication in the playing venue, unless they are completely switched off. If any such device produces a sound, the player shall lose the game. The opponent shall win. However, if the opponent cannot win the game by any series of legal moves, his score shall be a draw.
  3. Smoking is permitted only in the section of the venue designated by the arbiter"

I would say that implies NO.  a TD would find a mp player a potential threat of the no form of communication rule and would probably ban even a small mp3 player...

but first,

  • I doubt very much she's in a FIDE tournament
  • Club casual play is much less formal; and so long as the opponent didn't see this as a way to cheat
  • Lastly, a TD Could, IMHO, easily ascertain if the electronic device had any means of conveying forbidden chess advice.  I mean, no matter what its a recording!

anyways, just wanted to point out that it wouldn't be allowed in international tournaments, by the book.

Is that better little boy?
