I'll give you $299 for lifetime membership. Today. Deal?
Life-time diamond membership option

I think I hear Monty Hall around here somewhere.. LOL
No but seriously, whatever way you can get to be a "Lifer", more power to ya. But I think Lifer's should get some sort of new symbol, like it has been said. Maybe one day I'll get mine

Sounds like ChessMarkstheSpot is in for a lifetime membership at $299 too. Who else? Need 10 of us for some serious collective bargaining.

jhb - if I had the money I would, whether it be $299 or $599. It's a great thing to have for those members who are going to be around this site and chess long enough. I can certainly see myself being a "Lifer" here. i don't like the word that much but it fits this perfectly.

Self to wife: "I've bought you a lifetime diamond"
Wife: "You shouldn't have!"
Self: "... membership".
Wife: "Really, you shouldn't have. Where's the axe?"

Good one, art! lol But I thought it was going to go more in the direction of murder over the membership, not a diamond! lol

If I had a spare wedge of money then a lifetime diamond membership is something that I would consider, although I am now in the real world and my gold membership is all I can afford :-(

me too, Lampman, and truth be told---I really can't afford that, BUT...lol Still, it's nice to dream :)

That's what I was thinking when I first heard this, about the USCF lifetime deal. If this ever DOES become an option, I am sure it will be a worthy one to consider.

I would if I was a teenager. USCF does it. Saves a bundle over a life time.
Assuming the USCF lasts your lifetime.

if i was erik (which maybe i am) i would "hire" windows 95 as an intern and then keep promising him i'll start paying him "next year... yeah next year dude" but then never actually pay him any money for the "work" he does.

Then people can feel even more superiorer.

Hm, Eric yes how come my Diamond looks the same as other Diamonds? Although its no longer offered "lifetime memberships" to those that paid to play here. Titled platers get their special highlights and title displayed ....."something special for those supporting Chess.com funding" as immortalgamer says!
Mahalo! :-)

That would not make people want to buy it!

I'm basing my price estimate over this:
Lifetime from the time most can pay for it is about 70 years at most. 70 x $95.88=$6711.60 for lifetime. Given that Chess.com gives discounts for longer periods I would say $5000 is a reasonable price.
But more important is that longer subscriptions than 1 year are needed-chessgames.com gives out 2- and 3- year subscriptions.
Nobody is going to pay 5,000 for a life time membership. Nobody is going to be on this site for fifty years.
Another reason why Chess.com doesn't sell these.
(@Beester:Please take that down!)
No club or organanization bases their cost of a life time membership on what the next 50 years of an annual membership would cost. The next FEW years yes, but NEVER anywhere near fifty.
This is the reason why it isn't offered! This is why subscriptions are never longer than a few years! But Chess.com's subscriptions need to be longer!
I would love to, all of this site for one fee, forever...very tempting indeed
