He's saying that Chickens evolved from species that gave live birth, but somehow once the species evolved into the chicken, they suddenly started laying eggs.
Life's great questions, answered?

Is this spontaneous evolution of egg-laying the case for all birds then, or did all birds evolve from the chicken?
And as for dinosaurs...?

It must be true for all birds. And everyone knows dinosuars are make-believe. They only exist in movies.

Perhaps Rich can answer, having done his homework on this subject. I don't know about all dinosaurs but sharks have both viviparous and oviparous birth. Saw that on National Geographic, so that's how I know. Sharks predate dinosaurs by about 200 million years.

Nothing evolves as it grows up, its born with whatever enetic code it gets from its parents and grows from that. Evolution takes place when something is born with a slightly mutated or changed genetic code then its parents. If its superior to others of its species then its genes are passed on and more like it are born.
The question, which came first the chicken or the egg?, is really asking do you believe that God just suddenly created the whole world instantly with chickens living in it who then mated and had an egg, or do you think that chickens came about through evolution (which God could have caused or not) in which case the egg would come before the chicken.

Ah ok. It is a fun thread you started Phelan, but the issues were getting a more serious look subsequently. As someone said, interesting. I believe the chicken came first, having mutated from marine reptiles, perhaps crocodiles as some scientists think.

Arrogant mortals! What if GOD MADE THE EGG?! Who dares second guess the great and powerful Oz?
Your views are intriguing. How may I subscribe to your news letter. However how can the tree make a sound if their is no one there to hear it.

lol! o my god .. thanks for the link rich, that thread there was just as informative and wacky, the controversy aside. hope you have more fun facts like this, phelan ..

The Chicken came first before the egg.
The sky is blue and so is the oceans. The skys blue due to the amount of Nitrogen contained in the air , the sun refracting through highlights the N and the sky is illuminated blue the same can be said for the oceans.I liked the sound waves and the Inner ear creating noise ,as long as there are no animals around to here the tree fall.
Do you suppose, then, that chickens evolved from non-egg laying birds? At some point there we a predecessor to the chicken that laid eggs -- eggs that spawned the lineage that eventually led to the chicken, but before there ever was one.
