You don't get more time. It is simply a connection error which is creating inconsistencies between what you see and what your opponent sees.

I normally never play at these time limits but I did try it once. I noticed that there were 3 or 4 disconnects in the 5 minute game and it said the opponent had 30 or 45 seconds to reconnect which they did.
This led me to wonder if this can be used as taking advantage to get more time. After all when I disconnect I still see the website and board. So if I unplug my internet cable it appears my clock stops. I can reconnect and make a move in seconds. And have spent the disconnect time studying the board.
Is this how it's supposed to work? I didn't notice the disconnect time be subtracted from the game clock at all.
