You indicate that the Indian Defenses are used more often than the Sicilian.  The defenses are for different first moves.  A breakdown of the defenses used for e4,d4,c4,Nf3 etc would be great.  Thanks for the work you have done.

Thanks! The work is in progress. I'll go deeper in this statistical analysis. wink.png

I can do that. Can you give me some specific lines you would like me to analyze?

Great! I started here too wink.png:

Yigor

I've started to add links to threads discussing main lines of these openings.

Yigor

I've added the link to main lines of Sicilian openings.

Dear Mr. Yigor,

how do you find the french exchanging variation? Is it sharp? Often it is not but it can become very surprising. I don't know how to invert the pgn but I can show one game.

Sponi-NN 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Sc3 Lb4 4.exd5 exd5 5.Ld3 Se7 6.Df3 Le6 7.Sge2 Ld6 8.Lf4 O-O 9. O-O c6 10.Tfe1 Dc7 11.Lxd6 Dxd6 12.Df4 Db4 13.a3 Db6 14.Lxh7 Kxh7 15.Dh4 Kg8 16.Dxe7 Sd7

17.Db4 Dc7 18.Sg3 g6 19.De7 Kg7 20.Txe6 Tae8 21.Sf5 Kg8 22.Txg6 Kh7 23.Th6 Kg8 24.Dg5#

After this wonderful game my partner acused me of cheating. I don't know why. Is it so impossible to find the sacrifices? Greetings from Germany / Sponi / Fan of the Balogh(B07/e4d6/d4f5)

Sponi: Hey, in your case the Winawer: Delayed Exchange has quite normal statistical sharpness sh1=W/D=0.75 and sh2=B/D=0.64. One short game can never be a valid reason for cheating accusations. It's easy to show that your moves often don't correspond to top engine choices. For example, your 6. Qf3?! is an inaccuracy; an engine would play 6. Qh5. blitz.pngwink.png

Current status: 49 openings with 800+ master games. I've introduced the categories of white-edged (sh1>1) and black-edged (sh2>1) openings. wink.png

Yigor

52 openings now with 700+ master games. Sokolsky: KP 1. b4 e5 and Bird: Sicilian 1. f4 c5 are first statistically double-edged openings. blitz.png

LOL e4 d6 white-edged and d4 d6 statistically excellent xD

Yes, I know, white-edged and black-edged is funny as terminology. grin.png

greekgift1984 wrote:

Not that, but one is statistically excellent for Black and other is W-edged and they lead to same position.

Ah, that's actually a psychological issue.blitz.pngA player who started with 1. d4 often doesn't want to continue with immediate 2. e4. So he/she plays 2. c4 or 2. Nf3. wink.png

Not necessarily.

That's not my invention, it's just a statistical fact that U have noticed. The best move after 1. d4 d6 (both statistically and by engine evaluations) is indeed 2. e4. If white played it more often then the evaluation of 1. d4 d6 would be not so good, it's clear. happy.png

Yigor

I've added links to Indian, Sicilian and KPG main lines. settings.png

Yigor

I started to add also engine evaluations (lichess and ChessBase). explorer.png

Yigor

Approximative engines evaluations are added for openings #1-25.

Yigor

I've finished to add engine evaluations for openings #1-52 with 700+ master games. settings.png

Yigor

Current status: 53 openings with 600+ master games. I started to add color notations of moves:

statistically excellent

statistically good

statistically suboptimal

statistically bad

Cool stats.

Could you do this for the Top Chess Engine Championship?

Would be curious to see how openings perform at the Engine vs. Engine level.

Hey, thanks for your interest. happy.png In order to perform such statistical calculations, I'd need a database with sufficient number of engine vs engine games.
