Losing Points!

Does letting the clock run out loose less points then a resignation?????????

(ie: there's only like 2 min left and all you have is your king) while they have their queen and a couple of pawns.  If your next move would result in their checkmate move, what action looses the  least points: 1.)letting the clock run out like a whimp, or 2.) resigning

any info would be appreciated...  Foot in mouth

Well, the only way I could see losing on time would lose less points than a resignation is if the person happened to be playing other games at the same time and he won one of those before winning yours.  Since his rating would be higher at the time you lost, you might lose less points.  But whether that's ethical is another story.

A loss is a loss. The same amount of points are lost no matter how you lose.
