Maybe computers have made today's players stronger. Today everyone uses calculators to solve simple math problems....just plug in the numbers. Years ago you solved with slide rules and brain power.  Let's suppose Morphy was born in 2000, grew up playing chess and had all the apps and engines we had today...how do you suppose he would fare today?

What I think we can all agree on is that we are in the weakest era in the history of chess. Magnus Carlsen, Nakamura, Caruana, So, all would be destroyed by Fischer, Kasparov, capablanca, Morphy.

A lot of people tend to think that legends of the past are better then players now, but instead of taking the top 10 of the 2000s era like you did with our era, you took world champions... Also Carlsen is already arguably top5 players of all time

Magnus has dominated the world for the past several years. Whatever he does, he finds a way to win. Time alone will tell whether any grandmaster will be able to figure him out. I can’t wait to see

Magnus Carlsen is an absolute joke. The man has absolutely no heart whatsoever.

Tie score going into the final game of the World Chess Championship and he gets a big advantage and instead of trying to convert it offers a draw. Where’s the competitive drive? Where’s the belief in himself? Can you imagine Fischer or Kasparov offering a draw in that position?

Just disgusting behavior by a reigning world champion. No respect for competition whatsoever. I hope Caruana destroys him in the tiebreak. It would serve him right.

I have given my thoughts, and  now it’s your turn chess.com. Was this the most disgusting behavior by a reigning champion in world chess championship history?

Thats his choice, none of your business.

I fear that Carlsen may be going Fischer.

His refusal to play the Chess Championship and these cheating allegations are signs of increasingly erratic behaviour.

I really hope this is not the case as he seems a really nice guy.

I don’t think anyone has ever accused magnus of being a nice guy

Your comment was posted three years ago, now I hope that, you have understood why Magnus offered him a drawn and punished him very badly in blitz, where he was stronger 💪

Akamaister

It's a shame Magnus got crushed by Duda in the Aimchess Rapid quarter finals, by 3 pts to 1.  The choice of moves speak for themselves. Time for more studying and less accusations/politics.

I think he just wanted the match to go on for another day so the fans could enjoy some high drama

Or maybe the hotel is such good that he just wanted to enjoy the facilities for another couple days

Both of your comments are completely stupid.

Stockfishdot1

Maybe he no longer enjoys chess.

Magnus is norwegian. And the greatest living chess champion.

Meowing_power

#1, Magnus is usually stressed and usually gets a tough time, but your thoughts aren't changing my opinion

Have you guys ever heard him sing Autumn Leaves?
