Making Chess simpler for Americans

i think beast is a great poster of forum topics, he seems to get the pot stired well by using absurdity and a refined sense of irony.  while his original intentions are known only to him(or her) i dont think he was meaning to offend anyone...if so, good for him he's got brass balls.  the only reason we (americans)havent tweaked the rules and pieces of chess is...wait Fisher actually did change the rules of chess nevermind...

mao zedong replaces the king, the bishops with tanks, the pawns with xiaolin monks, and the bishops with spearmen. good enough! im chinese so no problem!

change must come through the barrel of a gun

I can only assume beast is trying to stir up an arguement by saying all these idiotic things, or else he has just lost all brain function.  I can name two chinese chess players off the top of my head, Bu and Wang Yu (sp?).  Also China, by GDP, is not the wealthiest country in the world, just the fastest growing.  Chess is getting increasingly big in China.

i think mao zedond said "power grows from the barrel of a gun" and "more can be accomplished with a nice word and a gun than with just a nice word"

China and can you name a single Chinese chess player?  Of course you can't they all play Go over there.  It's a cultural thing I think

With such a cultural remark you should know that go is a Japanese game, not Chinese. Facts, please.

And not to mention dental floss and flouride in the water (but you wouldn't know about those in whales, I guess).

All invented in America along with 1000s of other things.  Including Wikipedia

 someone's feeling offended!

Remember that without the greeks you wouldn't even have a democracy

Funny that you should mention that, because we don't have a democracy. We have a republic. Granted, it's a republic with democratically elected representatives, but still a republic, nevertheless. Smile

jpd303

i think the representative republic issue been covered a few times...i now want to know what contributions the welsh have made to man kind besides the welsh longbow the most feared weapon of the middle ages...its off topic from the original post im just curious Wink

One final point, you make it sound like it is some sort of trivial thing that anyone should be capable of at a moment's notice to just estimate the population of the entire planet.  It isn't, and you are no more capable than he is.  However you are perhaps more knowledgeable about what the official estimate is.  Knowing an estimate is not the same as estimating.

I'm not that great at estimating either, however I have the COMMON knowledge to know that the population of the entire world isn't even 8 billion, much less any single country.

I was exaggerating to make a point.  There are a lot of Chinese people in the world.  I mean we even have a Chinese restaurant in Llantrissant which specializes in Mutton chow mein.

Well, he's got a point there.

his IQ is around 125.  Lacking in the common sense department and a poor public speaker yes, stupid no.

W cannot even spell IQ let alone potatoe (sic)

jpd303

where did you (ivandh) get bush's IQ score?  that seems rather high to me...

Has anyone mentioned Wang Yue in this post?

lubo

Chinese already have their chess game. It's called "Chinese chess" for non chinese people and for chinese it's called

Xiangqi

And it's even MORE complex than the traditional chess. (10^150 vs 10^123)

I think traditional chess is too simple for them.. Think about it ;)

I'm sorry but the americans aren't dumb!
