I've already derived the solution, but can't be bothered to submit it. Just the satisfaction of knowing the answer is enough for me.

Slightly OT (from waffles) ...

"There is a greater variety of pizzas than there are chess positions. (I have discovered a wonderful proof for this, but the margin is not big enough for me to write it.)"

Sounds like you need a larger cocktail napkin mate.

Funny that he doesn't realize if he just accepted the prizes he would be less of a spectacle and have more privacy. Seriously, how much of a celebrity is the Fields medal winner and how much of a celebrity is a crazy guy.

I'll send the OP a million dollars myself if he manages to find the Off-Topic forum*

Wasn't that the poincaré conjecture?

There's plenty of other ways for a quick buck, by the way:

I have used to consider myself a good mathematician :/

Just curious if anyone actually understands it enough to answer  a simple question I have:

The Riemann Zeta Function Z(n) is the summation from k = 1 to infinity of k^-n.

To quote that "Riemann Hypothesis For Dummies" link,

"...the Riemann Zeta Function... basically has two types of zeros: the 'trivial' zeroes, that occur at all negative even integers, that is, -2, -4, -6, -8... and the 'nontrivial' zeroes, which are all the OTHER ones."

Z(-2) does not equal 0.

What am I missng.

an "i"...? :)

???

To answer my own question,  that form of the zeta function is only valid for n >=1 I think.

Oh, Right you are!  You win i * 1,000,000 dollars!

Avatar of Loomis

Eberulf, that form of the Riemann Zeta function is only valid for n > 1 and n is an integer.

If you get bored with standard pizza try pizza 960.  Its so much more challenging if you just throw random ingredients on.

Well, I could tell you how to solve it, but then I'd have to kill you.
