It's like that TV show, Whose line is it, anyway? . The point's don't matter.
Member Points?!? This is Important!

what value do points have when it comes to the game of chess ? Nada. You live or die on your own strength.

I look at how I rank among all the members
Today‘s Rank: | #277,517 of 296,528 (4.1%) |

This is valuable invormation, the points though I don't understand, dont even know how I got my 1 point or what to do with it...

OK, look I'm starting to get mad because people are just rackin' up member points by posting "?" or "Hun? Idk" on forums. They annoy me because all I get on my forum now is "ok" or "IDK". Chess.com really should make a rule saying if your answer is just to get member points/ to annoy the person you will lose a specific amount of points. Ok, I had another idea: Here it is:
What is the point of member points. There is no point of getting them. So, we should have a rewards system something like this:
100 Member Points 1 day of free Gold Membership
200 Member Points 1 day of free Platinum Membership
300 Member Points 1 day of free Diamond Membership
400 Member Points 1 week of free Gold Membership
500 Member Points 1 week of free Platinum Membership
600 Member Points 1 week of free Diamond Membership
And So on...
Ok, I also had another idea: Here it is:
We should have levels from member points, right?
100 Member Points Level 1
200 Member Points Level 2
300 Member Points Level 3
400 Member Points Level 4
500 Member Points Level 5
600 Member Points Level 6
So those are my ideas.
Would you get more points if you quote someone too? Or would they?
Good Idea. If someone quotes another, they both get a point closer toward their membership(according to my post)

good news, bad news, happyface. Which do you want first?
The good news?
OK, It probably isn't done to specifically drive up points.
The bad news is, it will continue.
The reason for those two bits of the puzzle fitting in is that some folks don't know WHAT member points are, and it wasn't till I found this article that I knew. (kind'a makes me curious how many points I have...)
As for "what does it matter" concepts...it is a way to see if a person is real. Spam machines aren't the worse thing that can happen to a site such as this, and it would be nice to determine if th eresponder is real at all. So, for someone to only punch in IDK everywhere, may very well trigger a small light on the big machine, and perhaps they watch that light for a moment to see if that's the only thing posted. In which case, thinly sliced and added to the frozen pizza about five minutes before it's done (plus a sprinkle of cheese --I prefer smoked gouda-- makes the best spam pizza I can think of.
Hi! How y'doing?

Member points are meaningless, and rightly so.
So says the sub-10,000.
Well, people complain about all sorts of things on this site, but I've never seen anyone post and say: Hey, I made a post but I didn't get any points. Even the trolls don't care....
Brilliant; You've just discovered a new and relatively creative trolling angle.

not sure i understand the points system or why it exists
p
It's a measure of activity. How much you post/interact with people.

I have accumulated well in excess of 10,000 points, and I feel like all of Creation need bow before me in my magnificent cloak of member digits. The air is cleaner, food tastes better, and laws such as those that apply to gravity, the preservation of mass and 15 items or less a your local grocery store no longer apply to me. I am assembling an enormous zombie army in my new found splendor, and look out!
