Who says I'm pretending?

And why are you pretending to be a rock?

You are very strange, and worry about odd things.

Added by me: "Who says I'm pretending! You can't prove it! It's the internet, I can say whatever I want and nobody can prove otherwise"!

Your profile certainly is made up and mocks the integrity some of us hold for chess.

Coming soon to theaters/tournaments everywhere...... The Grifter. Starring Maurice Ashley.

I would expect it to be a flop. In good grifter movies, of which I'm a huge fan, our hero pulls of the sting in grand fashion. Ashley lost alot of money, not exactly what most people want to see. Unless you're into tragedies of course and the villain receives his just do.

@maskedbishop...what is the idea behind a woman as your monikers? Is it an attempt at deception?

Why does maskedbishop's avatar matter?

Simple enough. If an avatar misrepresents who they are, a guy pretends to be a gal by example, how can their words be respected? If their profile is an attempt at deception, why should anyone respect their opinion?

Then I guess I'm attempting to deceive people into thinking I'm Mikhail Tal. Likewise you're attempting to deceive people into thinking that you're a rock formation. How can our words be respected?

Ashley didn't lose anything, Amy Lee did. Ashley got what he wanted. Maybe not as much of it as he wanted, but he got it nonetheless.

Seriously dude? Good lord....

mdinnerspace

Darth... get a life will ya? While you're at it, stop the misrepresentation of my statements.

mdinnerspace

How do you know no $ was lost personally by Ashley?

Huh ?

Are you privy to his finances?

Darth_Algar

In what way am I misrepresenting your statements?

It's a true shame the chess community didn't get behind MC. I've played all three years and have always enjoyed. A successful Mc helps us all out.

Rather than blame the chess community why not blame the organizers for over-reaching what the market would bear?

For one example, you make it appear I was referring to your profile, when in fact it was maskedbishops, obviously a made up, convoluted load of horse ****.

I would rephrase this to read:  It's too bad that the chess community couldn't afford to support MC.

I would ask why I, a moderate-income chess player, am obligated to support a posh tournament for affluent chess players.  Why weren't these players willing to pay a $3000  entry fee since that appears to be what was required.

mdinnerspace is talking about me again. It's cyclical...he runs out of anything to say about the topic at hand, so starts in on the posters. Usually me, but not always. Dude, if the topic bores you...why don't you just leave?

Back to MC - The prize pool is now 306K. Quite a fall from a million, and not much more than the World Open, which was 225K last year.

Is there anyone ready to take over CCA after Goichberg retires or dies?  As it is right now, he handles the entire thing and doesn't seem like the type to have someone assist in any way.

themaskedbishop

CCA has a staff, people like Wayne Clark. You see them in the yellow shirts, and they often are acting as TD. Maybe one of them will take it over.

JuergenWerner

they did it all wrong. they were trying to make chess like poker. What they should have done was make chess like Magic The Gathering or the Fighting Game Community (FGC) like Street Fighter games.

All of their tournaments are broadcast on Twitch for example.

Everyone look up Evolution 2016 tournament. The final 8 players even made it to ESPN2 this year!!!

mdinnerspace

Wrestling.

Enthralling to chess players

no doubt.

Put the players in a cage, when a blunder is made, all bets are off !
