Hello,

I never liked Arena cause for me have very non intuitive commands, but I need its Engine debug windows.

Actually the moves do not make any sound.

Where to find a command to have sound with moves?

Thnaks!

fuzzbug

Go to Options --> Appearance

The panel which appears has a Sounds button on it. Click on that to configure.

Thanks fuzzbug!

... I found it.... but it is not work!

I could not save the changes.

It was in "at a check" as in your picture.

I changed it to "at a normal move", then click in "Apply" then in "OK" but still no sounds and when open this windows again, is still in "at a check" :-/

You have to indicate what sound it is to play when a check, or other event occurs in a game. You can assign sounds for many events, if you use the drop down menu at the arrow.

You do this by telling Arena where to find the sounds, like this:

Navigate to the Arena folder on your HD, then the folder "Sounds". There you will find a number of  .wav files to use for the various moves. There are also phrases in English there, although you could find your own or make them in another language.

After you have told it which sound to play, click "Apply", and it should work.

Sorry, I should have shown that in my first picture.

Sorry but Arena really annoying me....

Is not possible to delete an engine??!!

I list all the options titles showed in help about "engine" and say nothing about delete.

I´m making an engine and each time I make a change I need to reload it and actually there are 44 versions in it!! :-(

Sorry but Arena is near to makes me crazy!! :-(

I could not amke two engines play against each other.

In Game/Game Data I mark program in white and black and after several attemps it seems I could have a program in both sides, cause I don´t know why sometimes after click OK and return have still one colour in human, but still after Game/Move Now! (REally is this the way to start a game?) the whites moves but blacks never move :-(

No, that's not how you do it. To have engines play against each other, you must set up a tournament. So,

Engines --> Tournament...

JCapanegra

? A tournament?!

OK.

Thanks.

Better use WinBoard, that makes life so much simpler... There you only have to click the 'Two Machines' menu item to get an engine-engine game, or click 'Machine Match' to play multiple games with alternating colors.

Hi,

How can I change the wav files for move announcements in arena?

I created a wav file and owerwrited the english one but does not play the sound wav file at movement.

Should the file be specific (size, render format etc..)?

Thanks

I don't have any idea about the render format, whatever that is. As far as the file size, I'll tell you a funny test that I just made - I told Arena to play Clint Black's "Killin' Time" song when a move is made. Sure enough, when I played 1.e4, it started into the song, and Arena played the entire song. (File size was 28 MB.) Of course, if another move was made before the song completed, it would just start the song over from the beginning. But it DID play the entire song.

I would imagine that if a media player such as VLC will play the wav file, then Arena should play it too.
