Slow down and consider your opponents threats?
Moving too fast, a begginer mistake that stays with you?
Slow down and consider your opponents threats?
Sometimes i can't do that even if i try.. Any tips on concentrating?

A nice glass of Marlborough Pinot Noir. That should relax you enough, so you can concentrate

I'm fairly new to the game.. So i tend to rush a lot.. I thought that would pass in time - it didn't.
Well, it's up to you then. You can either choose to take more time to consider what your opponent is doing, or get use to losing. In any case, I recommend a nice New Zealand wine to accompany your decision
the best advice I ever got was to sit on my hands. I still do that, although recently one of my friends pointed out I was still sitting on my hands with 7 seconds left on my clock (not such a good idea although I got a draw).
Someone suggested to me that concentration is not staring at the board and thinking about what to do next. It's staring at the board and trying NOT to think and letting the answer come to you.

Sounds like a great plan, I also try not to think during thinking games, it does wonder for your play.
surely u must think on every move u want to do.
forexample; first of all see ur opponents move and find it why s/he did that moves?try to find the answers.then start to find ur best move.
good luck.
sometimes u cant understand why ur opponents did that move;
in this position try to do ur best move.
the reason that u cant predict ur opponent move can be different:
one can be:because ur opponent without thinking did that move and he himself had no reason for his move!
one other can be: because ur opponent is strong enough to make a plan for the 3 or 4 move of future and that hard for u to understand it.
and can have other reasons too.
anyway by playing much and practicing and reading books u can predict their moves too.
I've started taking chess seriously a while ago. But, still I find myself maving too fast and ignoring threats (without much calculation).
I feel that I'm a stronger player then when i started, but my rating doesen't improve becouse of that. . . . . Any tips?
