Music and Chess

Has music ever helped you concentrate during a game. Does It help you more with a blitz game then with a regular standard tourney game. I think that that the music in itself will not make you a master level player, however music helps you to concentrate and that is a known fact. Also some of the people on chess.com think that music is not allowed in chess tourneys (it is only not allowed after the 3rd round in cca tourneys with players with 80 percent are better), and cca only has this rule to stop the cheaters at the big money events. I listen to music while I am playing live chess on chess.com. I usally listen to Pink Floyd music on chess.com becuase I truely belive that It helps me in my games a lot. When you are playing in a tourney and there a sound that is distracting what will happen to your concentration, it will problery go down. Also if you in a tourney are you distracting if there is a crowd of 250 people around you with only 1 minute left.

It depends. Some people can concentrate in quiet einviroments and some need sound/music to concentrate. So wear headphones

I love listening to Bach during a game. I find polyphonic music really helping me to focus on calculations and the music in general makes me feel better. I wish listening to the music were allowed in OTB games - but for obvious reasons it would never be (how would you prove you are not getting illegal assistance through your headphones?)
