My 10 round match against Magnus 10 (from the Play Magnus iPhone App)

I'm planning on doing a 10 game match over the span of about a week against Magnus 10 years 0 months. I'm gonna treat it like an actual chess match, so I won't start over when I don't like the opening or anything like that. To make it more fair, I'm going to alternate colors after the first game. After each game I'll post the pgn with my annotations. I'm expecting to get wrecked but if I can scrape a couple points from him I'll consider this a success. 0-10 is very possible (Magnus was a strong player even at age 10). This is kind of going to be a blog type thing so I'm posting the games here mostly to have a personal archive. Any advice or analysis between games would be appreciated, though!

Just finished the first game and it was a massacre... Fortunately I get white pieces next game so hopefully I can get a better result (or at least avoid getting ripped to shreds again lol).

Game 2: quick and frustrating loss. I had a solid position before I blundered away the game...

Side note: I said in my opening post that this would span over about a week, but it will likely be closer to two weeks. Thanks for following my games!

I tried posting game 3 but the game along with the annotations disappeared when I hit post comment.

Current score: 0-3 (Magnus 10 is a machine(lol))

keep at it. I'm finding that I'm adapting and learning from Magnus. I notice for myself that if you can get a slight advantage Magnus 10 is weaker in the endgame

In my opinion the positions that appeared on both games requires very precise play, but it's O.K. and playable. Well, you are doing "better" mistakes against a 2000 than me against a 1550...

Also on game 1 I guess you are positionally worse (before the critical moment) and on game 2 you could castle in the 13th move...

In game 2, 15 0-0-0 seems dangerous for black, though I might be wrong. I tend to suck in the sicilian

I think you're right. Upon reviewing the game immediately afterward, 15. 0-0-0 seemed obvious. I was too focused on my pawn storm plan to realize I could've castled with tempo.

I decided to switch things up and play 11 year old Magnus. I lost but I thought the game was interesting. (See following post for game)
