My puzzle rating finally broke 2900!!!

Today my puzzle reached exactly 2900 with this puzzle  https://www.chess.com/puzzles/problem/1256393

and then i spent 17m on this single 3060 rated puzzle

https://www.chess.com/puzzles/problem/1209496

puzzles have been one of the biggest things for my improvment and i think puzzles are a good indicator of growth (of course under a certain level because once you hit 4/5k puzzle rating there is no real way to improve puzzles) anyways this was a big accomplisment for me and was curious if puzzles have been as helpful for everyone else?

Well done! That’s quite the feat.

I hit a new high as well literally a minute ago haha.

The puzzles did help me with pattern recognition, visualization, calculations to 2-3 moves deep at 2 lines, limiting blunders and tactical skills this summer.

I am currently 1450 and had missed wins against 1900 players along with beating my share of 1700s in a summers season.

I may start taking it easy now. The puzzles get ridiculous at times. Plus I don’t know if my heart can handle another tilt.

I would be happy just to get to 2800 and establishing myself but I also have a goal of getting to 1500 rapids, so it’s a juggle.

Nice name new puzzle peak good job, and yeah balancing play and puzzles can be a challange but always focus on your play i was 1000 in december and im 1600 now (rapid) (1760 blitz) active play and analysis of your games is always best, and spend a lot longer on your puzzles it may seem rediculus but spent 5m on a single puzzle your struggling with, some puzzles you just wont see and many many more you will see

Thanks for the tip!

I got some practice sessions with stronger playing partners coming up and hopefully that’ll prep me up for 1500.

Why is king f8 important in the 3060 puzzle?

king f8 is important because white can go for queen h7, and after knight takes rook with check king f1 rook takes knight queen takes rook we are only able to get a draw if we do not play king f8, king e8 loses because its a check and were down an exchange king d7 and d8 allow queen h7

sorry i dont see the draw is what i mean

so let me explain
After E8 the knight takes and black is just down an exchange

after D7/D8
white takes the rook black takes the pawn on d4 with the kinght and white goes queen h7 black takes the rook and white goes king f1 then black takes the knight with the rook and the queen takes the rook black takes the pawn with their queen and white does rook d1 having a completely drawn position with it looking like this

that is difficult i would need 25 minutes at least to have hopes of getting that i didnt see kf1 qh7

I spent 14 minutes on move one to understand why F8 was better than d7 and d8 so yeah took  me a while as well

It's good to know that you're spending time on each puzzle. That's where the learning starts! Good job! Keep working

Thank you and I yes spending time on each puzzle is important when i was like 2000 puzzle i always wanted to blitz out a puzzle and solve it in 10 seconds and some times i was right most of the time i was wrong

How did u get so high?? Really hats off to u for ur outstanding play

I started taking a lot more time with every puzzle i did, sometimes clocking 20m puzzles and sometimes even getting those wrong, on average it was still 1-3/4 minutes a puzzle but i still gave every puzzle a legitamite chance (i skipped some that i thought looked bs)  and also playing a lot of games daily and getting tons of chess content in on youtube and twitch

Yes! I too had done that earlier. I wouldn't even look at the solution if I went wrong. But, now I  analyze the positions very carefully before solving them. But, some crazy advanced puzzles will have no meaning! When you look their solution, you will see it doesn't make any sense! I guess, such puzzles are computer generated ones. But, most of the puzzles are taken from the real games between two humans, so they will have some meaning! Such puzzles are the real sources of study for every player.

yeah some puzzles I may solve or get wrong and go what? i would never have seen the next 20 moves needed to win like engine im not a god
