Yes, us too ... One of my students reported this finding to me as well and thus I have checked my profile and all our students in our entire club, to which all students puzzle rating has drop like 400 points - Hope to have update soon as to this.

The system was updated.

I agree a thousand percent - must be why Martin is in that position - because he is great at it AND chess com DOES really care about their users.

The professionals had same opportunity for higher ratings as the lower players but now they rewarding higher rateds with higher ratings and taking my 5611 and turning it into 2447 rating. This is discrimination to me. It is as if almost like someone got jealous and said lower rateds have to be rated lower and the professionals have to be rated higher. This is a seperate system not one based on invitation to a tournament. So i feel this was done out of jealousy because why in world would you add points not even earned to a rating that was not in puzzle category and punish a person who achieved high rating in puzzles who is lower rated? Yea dont make sense because we all started at zero and had same opportunity and instead of making everything equal they punish lower rated and reward higher rated of ratings that are not in puzzle category. We all are supposed to start on equal terms. You dont go to a tournament and be given extra moves because your higher rated you start at move one like everyone else. Same true here with puzzle ratings they have added and subtracted points based on rating which is a hypocrisy.

Every member was re-rated based on their puzzle history and performance using the new rating algorithm and the new puzzle ratings. How much any member changed was dependent on that.

Some lower rated players increased as many if the puzzles they had done were higher rated after the puzzle re-rate.

@fearlessone I believe your suspicions are misplaced. I suspect, if you reach out through Support, someone will enlighten you are your specific score since they have the data and they're good at it; it's their THING.

Nobody is punishing the lower-rated players. There are times when a specific player can be biased on certain things but there is no reason whatsoever for any Developer here to discriminate against us. I hope someone really does take the time to help you.

Right now, I suspect they are easily spending overtime appeasing those who are upset and working through the usual buglets which exist in any new rollout; especially one affecting across-the-board gigabytes of data such as this!

FearlessOne, I love your Name as well - great choice and image! happy

ADDED: Hey Fearless! Do you like my picture as well? I've been told I'm not bad looking but my nose is a bit large - I got that from my father's side. wink

Me too! from 2554 down to 1842 with one wrong answer, which was a -24points. This is BS, is it a bug or are we being punished by an algorithm?

It was planned, is across-the-board applied affecting everyone and responding to most Users feeling it wasn't right prior.

Thanks Ellmitten for the link explaining the reset of puzzle rating. Looks like most folks have had a reset. It’s just a number folks, don’t get hung up on the number, enjoy the puzzles, some people are trying to improve things for you.

I just went from 2900 to 2100 in one puzzle

Here's what you get for each difficulty (from my exp today):

Standard: Correct = +2-3 pts Incorrect = -12 pts

Hard: Correct = +3-5 pts Incorrect = -10-8 pts

Extra Hard: Correct = + 7-8 pts Incorrect = -7-8 pts

Ooops! I think I quoted someone else as having said this! Sorry! But they said it too and I don't know who said it first so ... either way, it's SPOT ON and similar to a sign I have right next to me as a reminder! Thanks! happy I can never be told this too often!

To be clear, it wasn't rating numbers. it was points earned from working hard to solve puzzles, points that I think a lot of us were proud to accumulate, especially when it was 5 at a time, with the chance of losing -15 for a wrong answer.

Are we going to get our old totals back, or is this just the New World Order?

Go check my stats, I spent 205 hours on puzzles only to lose all my progress overnight.

And yet I still like the update.

Get over it.

This was to correct an inaccurate process. It may be tweaked (I have no idea) but I highly doubt going back. Since everyone's points are adjusted, it is fine with me. It was to correct the prior process where concensus was that it wasn't right.
