nice game, I just wonder at move 9 black has a position by bishop and rooks, i've seen once an oposite version of it, knights before queen and king, and bishops on the edges. To me that seams a bit stronger kind of defence altough i'm not sure if it realy is (it depends on white's play i guess).

To be honest I didn't like that game and I think you've played better. The sacrifices though inventive were IMO not sound. He was surely too gready throughout for example 15. Qxe7 wasn't that hard to spot and you would have been left with nothing.
Couldnt you end the game earlier with the Qg7 at 20 instead of 21?
Also it was a nice set of sacrifices however imo it would only be more impressive if you had done so in a live chess game of 10 or 15 minutes compared to a few days.

I don't disagree that the game done in live chess would have been awesome...,but consider the amount of time the defender has as well to figure out the correct move. This makes tactical play and sacrifices that much more difficult in correspondence games.

I don't see why black did not gave the piece back. He has a solid pawn and nothing to worry about.

that was really cool. i would be interested to see the computer anaylsis, i thought of 11.Nd4 might be a good response because it stops the rook pin. any drawbacks besides losing a pawn in that? 16. was a great move, but i dont think it is your best becuase of more obvious results than the knight or bishop sacrifices.

Yes I suppose most games played by anyone other than the guy playing would have nothing to worry about...
I probably would have played 10. ... NxN
The smith-morra is pretty tame unless your opponent plays poorly.
But anyway, your play in this game was not tame at all. Once you got the positional edge your attack was satisfying to watch (and I'm sure more satisfying to execute). Nice finish!

How can you say left with nothing? He is in control of the game after Qxe7 . Not of course as in control after the move made in the game, but amazing attack!

OK, I guess you're right I didn't see that. Still Black didn't exactly defend creatively, he had a few chances to get castled especially on move 13. Still perhaps I'm not giving enough credit, when pressure is being applied that's when mistakes are made.. And the psycological impact must have been enormous even if objectively the early sacrifices weren't probably that 'sound'.

This one is going to be one of my "immortal games". Cassia must have touched me here because I started a well conceived attacking plan on move 10. Please enjoy as I feel this is one of the finest games I've ever played.
