My Rematch Request Was Rejected!

Hey, this stupid thread is two-thirds the way to triple digits.  But it probably won't catch up to my other more popular (or rather less unpopular) stupid thread.

Let me know when you two are done dunning.

First off, rejecting requests is normal. No matter the situation, I would generally decline the offer. Second off, what.

I get the "first off" part but the "second off" part is a tad vague.  Care to elaborate?

Butterfly effect. It is crazy, yet true. This is just an exaggerated cartoon of butterfly effect:

I'm sure the folks who didn't know what what meant appreciate the definition.

I don't want to nitpick but you really need to work on the quality of your posts.

I never accept rematches, sometimes if it’s unrated, but never if it’s rated. People who offer rematches have terrible grammar. Somebody posted a forum one time, titled “What does mean, when player refuse to rematch?” It’s ridiculous!

I can't imagine that anyone would expect you to accept a rematch request that included grammatical errors.

It's a catch-22 for me.  I don't accept rematch requests because I don't like the sort of people who request them.  Now if you were not the type of person to request a rematch, then I'd be happy to grant your request.

Maybe he saw how terrible you were, and decided that he would have mercy on you and rejected your rematch because he didn't want to thrash you again... 😏

But seriously though, how did you give up your queen and your rook?? Surely you shouldn't have been that careless???

I was initially put off by your sarcastic remark but you redeemed yourself by asking a thoughtful question.

No, it wasn't carelessness. I came up with a profound combination, which started with a couple of quiet moves. Then came my brilliant rook sacrifice to break through on the kingside. That allowed my queen to penetrate deep into his position.  I know what you're thinking: "Oh I get it. You sacked your rook for a mating attack with your queen. Brilliant!" No, it was even better than that! My plan all along was not to mate with Her Majesty but rather give her up too - in order to mate with my bishop! As soon as he accepted my queen sacrifice, I announced mate in three.  Then I checked him twice and as I was about to administer the coup de grâce, I realized my black squared bishop was in fact a white squared bishop.

And he didn't even give me a damned rematch!

Very unfortunate! And very rude of the other player to not accept your match! That's one of the rudest things you can do!

Rudest things you can do (in order of rudeness):

1. Kill someone without there permission

2. Reject a rematch after your opponent made a terrible, rare blunder

3. Kill someone with their permission

4. Chew with your mouth open

5. Ruin someone's life

....

73814. Feed someone else's dog with their permission

73815. Work out a math problem

73816. Dream about people using idioms every single chance they get

73817. Blow your nose

73818. Play bowling for over 2 hours

@stewardjandstewardj:  Reasonable list with two exceptions.  I would rank rejecting a rematch request higher and surely farting in an elevator should rank above ruining someone's life.

I wouldn't. They are both freedoms. However, they are both considered rude. The first one will stay in second, and the second one would probably be ranked somewhere between 4th and 8th, but I haven't thought much about below 5th, so who knows. But this list isn't official. It's just opinion. All I know is that 1 and 2 DEFINITELY must be in the top 5, and so should number 4 if you do it loud and obnoxious enough

Evidently you're not aware that it's considered rude to disagree with the OP.  Put that on your list before you forget.

8. Disagree with the OP for no apparent reason whatsoever and/or with no logic

9. Be a bad teammate in a video game on purpose

10. Kidnap someone

11. Disagree with the OP without their permission

24. Disagree with the OP without their permission, but be open-minded about it (what I did)

....

382. Disagree with the OP when they are a complete lunatic, and you are right, without their permission

....

6712. Disagree with the OP with their permission

1428734. Write a 100% accurate essay about Socrates

1428735. Disagree with the OP when the OP is a lunatic space cat that has blasted Jupiter into pieces, when you are right, without their permission

1428734. Be conscious of your breathing

@stewardjandstewardj:  I suggest cleaning up that list a bit.  Replace all the OP disagreement prohibitions with just one:  "Disagree with the OP about anything and for any reason."  That covers everything and will improve everyone's thread experience.
