Fun and emotional involvement improve learning and retention. The history teacher at my school made the subject a blast. I wish I had him - we had a choice between history and sociology and I  chose sociology. And then I got to hear about this history teacher and his enthusiasm and daily challenges.  If (in any subject) the teacher is bored, the students probably will be, too.

Chess.com is not permitted in many many schools across the world.  That is why school aged children are not playing chess or discussing chess during the school day

at our school we cannot use our smartphones while on campus.  so if students are not increasing the traffic or daily user activity on chess.com , then what is driving up the numbers so much?  Take a guess...  that unspoken "something" that goes unnamed on chess.com

Sometimes a distraction during a long school day is nice.

School days are short until graduate school. Then classes sometimes start at 6:00 pm, continue until 9:30 pm in the classsroom, and another three to four hours in the pub after the professor goes home. Pure paradise! Mornings are spent teaching, grading, and reading the stuff you argue about all night long.

I mean, bro. U don't go to school to play chess. I'm not a big favor of lessons, but if that's avoiding kids to learn, let it stay like that. There's other things better than sitting on the phone and playng chess 4 i dunno 5 hour. Go outside and touch some grass bro. We had a chess tournament today in school and half of the school was there to watch the tournement exept 4 me and my buddy. I mean, chess.com getting banned in school doesnt change a small particle.

chess is a good thing and the fact that you must not have a chess club completely eliminates the fact of "do your work". that means that they have no chess-related events to look up to. Kids would put up their phones to do it on-the-board.

I mean, do they have to? Just bcs some chess nerds like chess doesn't mean we have to change the school.

bro speak for yourself, if you dont like chess then why are you here. What do you think middle and high schoolers would rather do: listen to boring stupid lecctures all day long, or play chess to give themselves a break?

Bro schools need to change. We have no chess club. But I'm part of student council, and we are trying to start clubs.

Yeah like u said, chess clubs. That guy who started the argument says his school banned chess.com bcs kids played on LESSONS. In my school, we have a chess club and we had a tournement just TODAY. We played during lunch. So they banned chess.com bcs kids play on the lessons. Ur club idea is good. I hope u achieve what u want.
