So my birthday is coming up and I want to get some chess stuff but I'm not sure what to get. I already have a chess board and pieces and I've decided to get chess platinum membership. I want to get some chess books but I have no clue what book to get. If you have some book suggestions, check my stats to make sure the book is alright for me. I'm dedicating a lot of time towards chess and I'm hoping to get 1400 rating by the end of the year. I appreciate all recommendations. Thanks guys!

i dont read books, but look at normal channels as they analyze games and give more advice from their experiences

Reassess your chess from Jeremy Silman was a really good book I got for my birthday.

If you are really into the Lessons, then Diamond is a better deal.  Unlimited Lessons and also video access.  If you must buy a book, then a good book on openings with extensive explanations is a fine purchase.  Van der Sterren's FCO (Fundamental Chess Openings) is considered the gold standard.  He doesn't go deep (that's what DBs are for), but he will take a paragraph to explain a single move.  Have fun!

but peopole are always like study middlegame more than opening, and at this level, u could play a4 h4 and if u hav e a good middle game you could win

Silman recommends NOT reading Reassess Your Chess until you have already worked through The Amateur's Mind.  Just saying...
