I think the key to understanding is that million dollar and piña colada thing. Enviousness of some kind? O.K., maybe he has a point: playing chess maybe shouldn't earn you millions. But it does, if that harms you, you just don't watch. I actually doubt that Nepo is to happy with the money at the moment. No need to be a psychologist to tell this from his body language, facial expressions, tone of voice. Of course, he's not the most regrettable guy around. But nevertheless a man you ruined what was supposed to be the time of his life by blundering. In my opinion, Nepo's answers at yesterday's press conference were everything but embarassing for chess.
