Good timing on this forum, given that the NFL is about to put this new rule (exactly analagous to what was proposed here) into place for the first time ever in the Steelers & Broncos playoff game, which is now going into overtime. Until now, every overtime NFL game was settled by the first score (sudden death), but now the NFL has changed the policy (well, OK, they changed the policy a year or two ago, but this will be the first time that the new policy will be implemented) so that the other team gets a chance to then tie it up. If the NFL can change, then why not chess, too?
NEW CHESS RULE!!!

I try to get the facts straight, and also to come clean when I realize that I made a mistake. So I was under the mistaken impression that any score in overtime would lead to another possession by the opposite team. Obviously, that is not what happened tonight, and during the brief time that I was typing my post here I missed some key parts of the game and the explanation, but I did see the touch down, and the fact that it did end the game as if the game were still sudden death. Despite all of this, I do still see a clear parallel with what was proposed here.
who's that???
