Hi All,

I hope no-one minds me posting this here.

The iPhone and iPad chess puzzle app,"checkmate in 123", that teaches checkmate patterns as well as allowing you to solve puzzles with checkmate in 1 move, checkmate in 2 moves and checkmate in 3 moves, now has a free (Lite) version available.

Please download it and try it out!

Like the full version it supports the following languages: English, French, Dutch, Spanish, German, Chinese, Russian and Ukranian.

I got this (full) app, and puzzle 119 of the "Mate in 3" series appears to be broken; it will not accept the second move in the sequence. Trying the "Hint" feature at this point gives the target square and the piece-to-move square in the opposite order, which I presume is part of the fault.

(Of course I'm guessing at Black's second move; I've put in ...Qxb6 Qxb6#; it could just as easily be ...Qc7 Qxc7#; I don't know which you intended)

I now notice that the 109th puzzle in the "mate in three" series is also broken, just less obviously than the 119th, since it allows one to complete the puzzle anyway.

1. f6 Bxh6

2. Rxh6 [black now pretends to move, by making the appropriate noise, but doesn't actually move anything]

3. Rh8#
