Hi, Folks, I'm the new guy, Arron. Nice to meet you, players!Cool

~ been playing for a few years, I read Polgar. I know a few openings. Have competed in smaller tournaments. And have gotten some formal instruction. What is the best way to memorize the names and colours of the squares? Is it possible to read algabraeic notation and see the board played out in your head? What is the average number of years it takes to become a grandmaster? How can I play someone online and know they are not cheating? Okay, that's it, if you have any questions, ask me! Hope to see you around.

Your first questions can only be solved by playing and studying as much as you can. As for the average number of years to become a grandmaster, I have no idea. If you play against several computers, you can sometimes tell if someone is cheating with a computer because of their style of play, especially if you've played against them before.
