Sounds like a great way to train. I've implemented the ideas into my own training plan for 2018, using tactics and rapid games as a training method (I'm also gonna use some books if I can)- I hope you don't mind. I'm eager to see how you'll do next week- good luck!

I have a limited amount of time for chess lately so I'm starting a new training schedule that involves mostly tactics and rapid games. I plan to start off by challenging myself to get at least seven out of ten standard tactics right on chesstempo.com. If i get less than seven out of ten tactics right I can keep going until I get an average of seventy percent total or seven out of ten in any given set. If I succeed in this I will play a maximum of four rapid games, less if I go -2 or +3. Afterwards, I will give myself a letter grade for my performance in both areas. C = 70% tactics, B = 80% tactics, etc. F = 0W/2L, D = 1.5W/2.5L, C = 2W/2L, B = 2.5W/1.5L, A =3.0W/1L, A+ = 3.5W/0.5L. I will get bonus points for getting 100% tactics or 3W straight. I plan to do 4 to 5 sessions per week and at the end of the week I will post a review of my two most instructive wins and losses.
So this week did not go very well. Here are my results:
Mon. 7/10, 1W/1L (stopped early because of late start)
Tue. 6/10, 4/10
Fri. 7/10, 0W/2L
Sat. 8/10, 0W/2L, 8/10 2.5W/1.5L, 5/10
Tactics: 45/70 = D+, Games: 3.5W/6.5L = D-, Average = D
So what went wrong? Let's start with this disappointment:
