I’m back in chess after a long hiatus and realize that what I need most now is to work on tactics. Repetitive training with the various motifs, in isolation then in combination; a few hundred 2-movers followed by as many 3-movers, etc. PATTERN RECOGNITION. In other words, I need something like what CT-Art seemed to have provided.
Problem: CT-Art, even 4.0 according to innumerable reviews, was extremely quirky even on pre-Windows 7 PCs for which it was designed, and seems not to like Windows 7 at all. In addition, difficult-to-impossible activation, a customer “service” from hell... and even if it worked, I’d have to buy a second computer since I use a Mac.
Hence my question, actually, a plea for help: Can anybody steer me towards tactics training software for the Mac, specifically the kind of software described in my first paragraph. This would exclude the Mac version of Chessmaster which (a) is more for playing than tactics training, and (b) doesn’t work on recent (OS X post-10.5.8) systems such as mine. Also, I mean: SOFTWARE, not web-based programs like chess.com’s and others, which are excellent but insufficient (or at least not exactly what I need).
Yes, I'm using both. As I wrote: "I mean: SOFTWARE, not web-based programs like chess.com’s and others, which are excellent but insufficient (or at least not exactly what I need)."

I would be grateful for any suggestions.
