1.Nf3 is the most flexible first move on the board. What you will find in the Reti without transpositions to other openings is that there are 2 systems. The Lasker System and the Capablanca System. Of the 2, the Capablanca System is the superior system because it does not allow White the counterplay of harassing Back's (LSB) light square B.
