No cheaters pledge and group

Anyone interested in starting a group or having some sort of semi secret signal on the home page that signifies you've taken a pledge to not cheat? It seem like half the people I play now are cheating. People that take the pledge would play others that have taken the pledge and anyone suspected of cheating would be blocked. (most of the time it's easy to tell when someone is cheating) Wouldn't be perfect but this site is getting lousy with cheaters.

Sorry but Solskytz is a NAZI

This post is infected with gross, intentionally alarming generalities. It is here to inflame.

Cheaters are a very small minority and are dealt with harshly and effectively, in my experience. The vast majority here love a great game of chess.

This is one of the best, friendliest and cleverest chess websites out there, with great interface, a sympathetic community, and many imaginative features.

Someone rated around 900+ to 1100+ can get a lot of knowledge and practice here, learn and improve his game just like many others are doing all the time. I would recommend terminating this unnecessary thread.

i'm totally in, but only if we can have secret handshakes and blood oaths as well

C'mon you guys, stop taking the mickey.

Sure this guy is only rated 1175 but he'd be at least 1200, if half of his opponents weren't cheating.

Cheaters who manage to maintain a beginner-level rating, are a double scourge on this site and should be eradicated post-haste.

I'm still unfamiliar with some of these British expressions... and what would "taking the mickey" mean?

Nietzsche_Keen

What are some signs that someone is cheating? I mean, besides them winning, :P

rooperi

What's really  strange is that he has about a 85% win rate.

So, if half his opponents cheat, he still beats most of them. So they really suck at cheating, I suppose.

taking the mickey -- to tease, or to fool around with.

solskytz

This was also something that freaked me out... how does an 1175 guy keep beating all of his opponents? He must be pretty averse to challenge and pretty sure of his own great ability to accuse winners of cheating...

The first barrier to learning is thinking that you already know everything there is to know. Then really you make darn sure that no information can ever get in.

solskytz

oh yes - I knew this expression actually, but with another word instead of Mickey

Or... the OP is a confession and we have our man!

Good work Deux-Deux!

It will never be eradicated..there is no sure way, only judication. Start to panic when some guy at your chess club brings in an extra board and starts to analyse your game with him using the extra board..Or just get one yourself..Then he will get two and then so will you.
