Does no one rematch anymore, whether rather opponent wins easily, loses badly or just gets lucky......hardly anyone seems to rematch now...fed up with it........
Doc_Detroit
So basically you’re “fed up” with situations you have no control over. Get used to it!

In the chess club? You are probably talking about unrated casual games. Ask about  a rematch after official rated game and they'll look at you as if you were an alien... There are no rematches in competitive chess.

"It is the duty of any player to give a rematch. By playing a game, you are acknowledging that you are entitled to a rematch if you win unfairly (Washington, 12)."

There are almost always rematches in competitive chess. Players of  appx same rating  will play against each other again and again.I have played most of my opponents more than once , a lot of them more than 5 and half a dozen of them more than 10. Whenever I felt that the result wasn't fair and I wanted a rematch, I only had to wait till the next tournament(or the next next).

What you describe is not what is called a rematch at chess.com - colors are not guaranteed to be reversed, waiting time is unknown and can be infinite. By the way here you can also wait until the system pairs you up against the same player.

"Result wasn't fair" - I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. Did you opponent cheat?

As for caring about improvement - that's exactly the reason why I never play two games in a row here. I need to cool down and to analyse the previous game.

I have played on many different servers and never have my rematch requests been turned down as much as on chess.com. Sure, people have every right to turn down an offer, but it is getting rather absurd and i can totally understand the frustration.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would get upset about not getting a rematch. There is no double or nothing since we aren't playing $5 a game.

I have noticed, that in re-matches, the opponent usually trash talks and then uses an engine and wins. This happened several times so I just stopped giving re-matches. People tend to resort to engine use in the second game to ensure they win and soothe their bruised egos.

I never request or accept rematches. I used to accept them but I stopped when I started noticing a lot of angry comments on members' pages by sore losers ― and many forum threads created by them to rant about being denied their God-given right to rematches.

I don't recall if I noticed that any of my opponents appeared much stronger in the second game. However, so many people have noticed it, I think it's likely that at least some first game losers get "help" in the second game. That's just another good reason to reject rematch requests. I don't even pay attention to them. Most of the time I'm probably not even aware that my opponent requested one. I've either put in a new seek or left the game area.

This should be a chess.com stereotype. The people that complain about rematches and then make a forum post about it.

spawkle529

I hate these types of forums. People have many reasons for declining rematches. Some are busy, some don't want to play the same opponent again, some want to analyze their game, etc. It's the internet, no one deserves anything or is legally/morally obliged to give anyone anything. GROW UP,

In competitive chess sometimes one of the players is lucky. You might play better and lose because of a minor lack of focus. That is what I meant when I said "the result wasn't fair".

I don't know where  you live, but practically everywhere in the United States, rematches are pretty much unheard of in OTB tournaments. Sure, I play opponents more than once, but it's only after a few months and wouldn't be really considered a rematch, The matching system makes it statistically improbable that you will play the same opponent(almost never if you are approximately the same rating)within the next 5ish tournaments. Many people just play a few casual games online to practice a bit. Most people seriously practice/study over the board.

So you need to learn to keep focused. Why do you need a rematch for that?
