Offering a draw

Hi, I am new to online chess. I have offered  a move and offered a draw. How does my opponent know that I have offered a draw?  What notification does he get to show that I have offered a draw. Is there a notification of denial or acceptence of the request for a draw?
Please, no comments about the ethics of a draw. I am only interested in the correct procedure and response.  

Thank You Iceman3232.  How do I (the originator of the original draw request) get notified of my opponent's decision to accept or reject my draw offer? I did not see any indication of my opponent's decision to accept or reject the draw?

From what I have experienced the only way to tell is that the game ends otherwise it means they declined the draw.
