I've found that getting really drunk seems to help. You still lose every game, but you no longer worry about it.

Play more people who suck.
Rule #1 of winning chess: if you lose to a ten-year-old, then play a nine-year-old next time.
Just suck it up..and give it a rest when you hit bad form.take a vacation.happens to me all the time.
I have noticed in over a decade of playing poker, I have good weeks and not so good weeks. I my best the week after the full moon to the actual full moon. I do my worst when the full moon is in its first days of decline through the first week or so.
I first came across this pattern back in the late 80's with the stock market. One of the business newspapers would print the previous years market pattern (closings). I noticed a pattern going on. The biggest drops in the market were during the full and new moon. I have my own theories as to why this occured.
Of course computer trading came along, and the effects are somewhat dampenend but they still exist. modifying a discovered pattern only creates a new pattern.
There is also a problem with working nights, or mid shift. Decisions soundly made at 03:00 can sometimes be really poor decisions when waking up the next afternoon and thinking clearly.
Whether any of my observations have any effect on your chess, only you can determine. It sounds as if you are keeping some type of records. If so they will tell you.
If you are not keeping any type of records, you may want to to see if there are any learning in the data. jm2c
Two things cause this. First, usually it's tactics. You are missing simple tactics. The solution: Alburt's and Palatnik's book Chess Tactics for the Tournament Player. Make sure you follow their training suggestions.
Second, positional understanding. Sometimes chess players do not understand what the position calls for. Of course, positional understanding of chess is still changing. But the best solution: Nimzovich's My System, Silman's How to Reassess Your Chess, and Alburt's and Palatnik's Chess Strategy for the Tournament Player.
Now will this correct everything? No, but as you increase your understanding, develop your vision, and sharpen your thinking you will make less mistakes and play better chess.
And if you want to become a top notch GM, read these books when you are 6 years old and take lessons from a GM. Then by the time you are a teenager you should at least be an IM, and if you haven't even made it to master, then you have wasted a lot of time and money, so take up golf - it's just as frustrating, but at least you get some physical exercise.
