Differences Between Online vs Offline Chess??

I recently started playing chess on the little application that sat on my desktop for a year or so since I got my laptop. Just yesterday, I played my first game on a regular board, and I felt it was much easier when I played on the computer. Is that because the 2D board on the computer is more visible, or is there other reasoning, or am I just making this up? I have a friend that plays chess competitively, and when he plays online he moves the pieces on a board IRL because he doesn't like looking at the board on the screen, but I think it is more of a preferential thing for him. What do you guys think?

Probably it is because you got used to the screen first. I feel equally comfortable in both cases, I suppose it's only a matter of becoming used to both.

I suppose you're right. I seemed to make more silly mistakes on the board than online, which is why I thought it might be a visibility issue, but it would make sense that I might just have to adjust.

Old players had the opposite problem. They only played on a board, and so online 2D chess was much harder for them.

I use my my physical chess set every day (or every night) in studying books... Nah! I study books BECAUSE of my old but beautiful chess set.
