I’m playing a guy named zeravok and he just took a pawn with another pawn that was LATERAL to my pawn and then advanced near my home row with it. I have pics. How do I get this game stopped? I imagine he’s using the desktop version and a cheat engine if I know anything about online gaming. I’m on my iPhone and can show the history.

As has been said, it's en passant, not cheating.

Not an illegal move. It’s valid as others have also said.

You’re in for a shock once he castles!

The en passant move is a thorn in the side of beginners ! 🙀

Yet, beginners like us don’t wonder how pawn can magically change to Queen, etc... once it reaches the 8th rank. That’s cheating too. 😂
NotTheMax

en passant. What a dirty cheater LMAO

NotTheMax

Yeah us beginners have no clue why their king can sit next to the other king

There are varying degrees of this type of post. OP has jumped in with both feet at level 3 and must be regretting it by now.

1. Can somebody explain what this move is with the pawn? I haven't seen it before.

2. I think there's a glitch in my game, the pawn made an impossible capture.

3. My opponent is cheating with an illegal move. I demand action!

batgirl

'Twas thinking the same thing.

It’s just so hilarious when a kid as this move played against him/ her ......they think is some sort of evil black magic that’s being used by their opponents ! 😹

gotta be trolling, 1400 is too high rated to not know about en passant

Surely when you're reading up on chess, wondering whether to start playing, you find out about en passant. It's a pretty integral part of the game much like castling right? I had heard of en passant before starting playing but it was actually this site that helped me properly understand it.

I imagine that many Americans ignore anything written in French... ;-)

In b4 the lock, public accusations aren't allowed in the public forums!

It might not get locked, but even if it does, the mods will have to leave it open long enough so that us guys in the peanut gallery can get our shots in. :-)
