OTB tournament

OTB tournaments are great fun regnskog! I would suggest going along for the experience, the fun and social side of it, to find out more about chess, and to see what strength your really playing at. (Internet ratings are misleading imo).
The years i played OTB i met lots of nice people so even if you make some friends and lose all your games (although im sure that wont happen :) it will be fun outing.

Hello everyone I recently started going to a chess club. Actually this wednesday is the second time I'll be there and I've never played OTB before. My rating on chess.com is ~1600 but my blitz rating on FICS is absolutely horrible(~1100)! Anyways there is a tournament coming up here in Stockholm for players rated 1000-1600 and I was given the opportunity to join. Although this sounds very interesting I have no idea how I well I would be able to compete since I have never played OTB before really. So I was wondering if you think it is a good idea to join it or not. It certainly wouldn't be fun to lose every single game I play! Any advice is welcome. Thanks :)
Don't hesitate.. GO GO GO and show 'em what you got!
Don't think about the score.. just about the currect position.
In the first tournament Peter Leko lost all 9 games... Which gave him the push to start playing chess seriously...
