OTB vs computer screen

I feel like if I played myself, with the white me playing on a real chess board, and the black me playing on a computer, black me would win because I feel like I can see more possibilities looking at the screen.  Probably because I play mostly computer chess and much less OTB.  Is this normal?

It is certainly true they are different. If all you aspire to is computer chess, that isn’t a problem. But if you want to actually play rated tournaments you must learn to play with a real chess board.

Personally I do a number of things to specifically train me for playing over the board. When playing slower games against the computer I transfer the moves to a real board. Also I do some of my instructional material with a real board (my Yusupov).

I've been playing OTB with the computer as my opponent (or my phone app).  My family thinks I'm crazy playing "with myself", but its like a whole new twist on the game, and adds a new level of enjoyment to study a real board.

I play almost all my chess on-screen. When I play on a physical board I sometimes miss bishop attacks down the diagonals.

Sometimes I just flip / rotate the onscreen board and play with my pieces on the top, raining down havoc and terror on bottom playing opponent; a different perspective that helps you nail down their timing, which is holographic in nature.
