OTB vs OnLine

Hi,

I was wondering if there's any way of making the board look 3D?

I know this is no where near as good as an actual board but it would help a little.

Currently I'm struggling with a board as Ive been playing on here too much.

I played at a club and missed many moves. I have started to use a board at the same time as playing on line to help but I end up just staring at the screen as its easier.

I'm sure with java these days it would be simple to produce in terms of programming and using the current engine for moves etc.

Any Ideas?

Have you tried to change the board theme?
DomK

ah Yes, the Staunton one appears 3D, thank you. I looked through themes but couldnt find it before.

I little more angle would be nice but I'm not complaining.

Thank you for answering.

I've selected 'Wood' in themes and gone to Boards and pieces and found a lovely Beta 'real 3D'  version that looks great.

Ive noticed that depending on your theme you have other 3D options per theme.

This is better than nothing, i guess

That looks good, I like how you can rotate the board. I'd prefer to stick on here as I have been here a while.
I guess its coming soon. The beta looks good.

If they can add a slight rotation it would be much better, for example I have a bishop behind a queen and I cant see it correctly. I think it needs a little more angle. although being able to change it would be great.

Thanks for your answers. I do like the diagram chess as Ive worked in IT for 30 yers and I'm used to it. I just got confused when I played on a board.

I tend to have a board near me and sometimes copy to the board. but when you have several games running (like a tournament) it can get tricky.

I'm using 3D beta now, I like it.
