When I get into a losing position, I resign. I have seen some opponents here stop moving in a losing position and forfeit on time. It's a legal option, just like playing on when checkmate is inevitable. A win is a win.
Out of Time

out of time. getting mated means that your oppponent is truly better than you. If you get out of time, it just means you thought for too long

That is true bullshit and you know it.
+1. Time management is just as important as any other chess skill.
I play 15/10 games here and can't remember the last time I 'genuinely' lost on time. If I'm in a totally hopeless position I resign and move on. Having low bandwidth has cost me a few games with disconnections though (which is highly annoying when you have 7mins left, it's mate in one and your opponent is letting the clock run for minutes when they have only onelegal move!).
The Out of Time disturbs me because I wonder if this is a copout for people that are loosing. Is it better to be Out of Time or truly loose. When you loose, truly loose, hopefully you have learned something regarding your loss. If you copout with Out of Time, are you going to look back and learn. I think not because you are a child of chess.
