I am fascinated by the thought that we can play chess with so many people around the world but am curious -- how is it determined where you are playing from? is it user-generated and possible to misuse, or is it fixed for each player based on internet addresses?
I'm pretty sure its user generated because there is a International passport (meaning a person who represents more than one country) and that can't be decided by a GPS.

You can say you're from any country you'd like, so there's no guarantee that someone is from the country they have on their profile.
